The 29 by 30 - Project 7: DIY Candy Jars

Another party decoration with multiple uses. These jars will have candy in it during Kelli's party but afterwards it will be home to Aryia's cute hair accessories, socks, whatev.

Mason Jars
Spray Paint

I bought the candlesticks and mason jars at Dollar Tree. To glue the jars to the candlesticks, I used E6000. I already had it on hand but I'm pretty sure I bought it online forever ago. Craft stores sell it as well but sometimes I'm lazy and would rather buy online.

Before spray painting, I removed the tops and took the centers out of them. I do want to add that I've read tutorials and some people sand and prime the glass and metal before they paint. I am super impatient and would rather spray 50 coats of paint than have to run out and get primer because I forgot to buy it the first time. I'm not going to lie, I had to spray paint the candlesticks a couple of times to cover all the areas equally. I did laundry while it was drying. No biggie.

After the paint dried I added a ton of E6000 to the top of the candlestick. I'm sure you can use other glues but I know E6000 works like a champ. Line up the bottom of the jar with the candlestick and press it firmly together. Lucky for me, my jars had a nice circle on the bottom that made it real easy to line up with the candlestick.

After an hour or so I put the tops on and Voila. Fantabulous Jars!!

The 29 by 30 - Project 6: Baby Shower Decor {Butterfly Lanterns and a Lollipop Topiary}

The whole idea behind my decorations is to make things that Kelli can use to decorate Aryia's baby room after the shower. I was going to do one big post with all my baby shower decor but now that the shower has been postponed, my list of projects has grown quite a bit. I'll try to break them up into a couple of different project posts until we actually have the party.

Butterfly lanterns:
White paper lanterns
Butterfly punch

Easy Peasy. Use your craft punch to punch out the butterflies and glue to the lantern. I used glitter cardstock and LocTite that I already had on hand.  The lanterns you can find at most craft or party supply stores. I picked mine up from Hobby Lobby where you can also find the craft punch for the butterflies.

Lollipop Topiary:
Styrofoam ball
Tissue paper
Base  {I used a Target dollar section bucket}
1 Bag of Dum Dums

Another easy project but it took a huge fail for me to get there. I originally started out wanting to put the styrofoam ball on a wooden dowel so it would be slightly raised from the bucket. However, that does not work when you have several pounds of lollipops in the styrofoam! Even after adding craft rocks to the bucket, the topiary fell over and the dowel ripped out. So I cussed for several minutes until the Hubs suggested I sit it on top of the bucket and have pretty tissue paper kind of wrapped around it. He's smart like that. I think it turned out cute.

I won't actually get to use any of the decorations until the end of September so until then our house will look  like a baby nursery. Sorry, Jared. I'll be back soon with pics of the DIY candy jars and yarn wreath :0)

The Weekend - In Pics

We dressed up and {kinda} acted like adults this weekend...

Yeah we were that group sticking our heads in the Ben & Jerry's sign in the middle of Hard Rock.

This is my most favoritest dress EVER! Have you ever had one of those moments of panic when you realize that you have absolutely nothing that you feel comfortable in to wear to a wedding that's in less than 24 hours but then at the last minute you find the perfect dress and it's pure happiness? I did that. And because I'm dramatic, it was like panic times ten. I mean the world was probably going to end.

Look at that lace!! Love it, Love it, Love it!

I started working on a bigger version of this pic you might have seen on Instagram. If you'd like to follow me: Jennp1751. Check back later this week for my next project :0)
