Etsy's Holiday Boot Camp

Super excited about this year's Holiday Boot Camp. I've set a lot of goals for myself this year and one of them was to start things and actually follow through...the whole way through. That applies to my shop, my blog, crafts, etc. I plan to do that with the Boot Camp as well. To join the boot camp, sign up for the Etsy Success newsletter and it will be sent directly to your email. The first email came out on the 22nd with a list of to-dos and we all know how much I love lists. The first week's to-dos:

Week 1 To Do List:
*Read this week's blog post on Etsy: A Flying Start - Done
*Fill out the Holiday Budget Worksheet - I'm scared but working on it
*Print and apply the Holiday Boot Camp stickers to my calendar - Done
*Share my personal holiday goals - Just did
*Find my Holiday Boot Camp buddy - Working on that now :)
*Get familiar with Etsy's Search Ads

My personal holiday goal is to have awesome customer service and to create new pieces. I always strive for great customer service and I completely understand that during the holidays people can get a bit frazzled so my goal is to do my best to help prevent that in any way possible. Create new pieces - The style of jewelry and accessories in my shop has definitely evolved since I first opened. I started out with swarovski crystals and silver, slowly got into gold and charms and chain. Now I'm in love with bright colors: flowers, feathers. I've started making rings and have tried my hand at hair clips and bobby pins. I'd like to try something new. Headbands? Maybe try a new style of hair clips?

Any suggestions? Its time for something new and I will attempt to make just about anything once. And if you have participated in Holiday Boot Camp in the past, any advice would be well appreciated.

Now I'm off to get familiar to Etsy's Search Ads

Martha Does Halloween

Although the weather says Summer, it is officially fall and I'm ready for the holidays!! Not ready as in prepared. I have a habit of adding on to my project list and therefore never being truly finished with any occasion's crafts. So lets just say that I can't wait to start decorating for Halloween. I've never had a Halloween party or really decorated for Halloween specifically but this year I am. I'm doing it for myself and because I love having a reason to make things. And where else would I go for crafty inspiration but the domestic goddess herself: Martha Stewart.

Here are some of Martha's fabulous Halloween crafts{and I want to make every last one of them!}. Click on the link below the pictures and she even offers tutorials. How much more awesome can she get?!

I'm in to Hair Feathers Now

I'm participating in a craft fair in Mobile in December that I'm VERY excited about {More details on the craft fair later}. It's not only given me a reason to make all kinds of new and fantabulous jewelry and crafts but I also have a chance to decorate a booth. I might be more excited about decorating the tables and displays. Sooo I've been stalking Pick Your Plum daily for good deals on things to have at my booth. Stalking way more than usual, might I add. Then one spectacular day, they had feather hair extensions.  Real feathers. Pretty colors. Yes, please.

I received the feather extensions last week and they are so cute!! Bright colors, pink, turquoise, yellow, etc. I want some for myself!! The ONLY bad thing {I say "bad" very loosely b/c I absolutely LOVE their deals} about PYP is that there's a maximum number that you can purchase on one item. Which can also be viewed as a positive because otherwise my bank account would be empty.

Here's some info straight from PYP's website on the feathers that I received:
2 sets of colors!
Look like a 'Rock Star' set of colors
(Blue, Green, Pink, White and Red)
Feel like a 'Super Star' set of colors
(Turquoise, Rust, Yellow, Orange, Brown)
The crimp beads have a silicone lining to prevent slipping.  The feathers measure 6-8.5 inches and are thin.  Because these are the real deal the length does vary.  These feathers can be washed, blown dry, curled or flat ironed!!!!  Wear 2-6 weeks.

Etsy Obsession: Joom

I love me some bright colors. Who wouldn't?! So you can completely understand why I would love Joom's Etsy shop.  To my surprise one early morning (when I was probably supposed to be working), I sign in to Etsy and see this awesome pillow. Swoon!

found here

Joom's shop is full of awesome pillows. Teal, Lavender, Hot Pink, Yellow. The color list goes on and on and on. What really made me fall in love with her shop:

I am apparently obsessed with this color because I really want to lay in a room plastered with mint green surroundings. I really need one of these clocks. And by need I mean, I will be purchasing one of her clocks soon. Or maybe one of these:

Can you see why I am obsessed with Joom? My entire house would be full of mint green, yellow and lavender if my husband would just agree to like some color other than beige. I'm slowly opening him up to different hues by slipping in tid bits of yellow and turquoise throughout the house. At least it's not super girly flowers and butterflies....yet :0)

Rhinestone Bangle

A while ago I started making a craft binder full of crafty inspiration. Basically it's another way for my OCD to shine :0) I've recently started following Miss Lovie and all her crafty creations. You should definitely check out her blog. She has some awesome tutorials! One of my faves is her Thread and Rhinestone Bracelets Tutorial  soooo I made my own......

The Rhinestone Bangle

I used black and grey embroidery threads with purple metallic thread = gorgeous

Allie's tutorial is spot on! The first part about the thread is a tad bit confusing so my advice is to get the embroidery thread first, then try to read through it all. It will make perfect sense once you have the actual thread in your hands. Another thing that I did different: instead of using mod podge, I used LocTite Super Glue. I am truly in love with LocTite. I use it for everything. It takes a tiny drop, dries fast and bonds EVERY thing together. I used hot glue to adhere the string to the inside of the bangle and after I wrapped the entire bangle, I used LocTite to secure the end of the thread. I used LocTite for the rhinestone chain as well, a little drop under every 4th or 5th rhinestone and the chain definitely stayed in place.

Bought my bangles at WalMart for $5 (set of 5, with only 3 being thick enough), threads came from JoAnn's, and rhinestone chain came from Etsy. I haven't checked Hancock (where Allie got her chain) to see if they have the chain but don't worry I will!

Super cute bangles and an awesome tutorial!

Hello Old Friends

I've gone through many phases of jewelry-making. I went through a chain and swarovski crystal phase BIG TIME. A lot of pieces have expired on Etsy and I'm ready to sell it, get it to someone who will wear it. I've been busy taking new pictures, trying to spice it them up a bit. In all honesty, my craft room is getting a bit out of control. I've got to start getting some crafts and jewelry outta here. The other day Jd called me a hoarder. Is it really a bad thing to have "too many" crafts?! I think not but my overcrowded office looks to disagree. Once I get a crafty idea in my head, I buy everything I need to make as many as possible. The only problem is, I often find something else to make before I get a chance to put together a hundred of the previous craft. That's how I roll. So if you're interested in some handmade"Swarovski and Chain Phase", OOAK jewelry head over to my shop in the next couple of days and check out some of my pieces.

Handmade Goodness

This weekend we ventured over to Mississippi for an owl-themed birthday party. My friend Alicia's little girl turned one and I'll say that Alicia did an awesome job with all the cute owl decor. I only managed to take a few pics of the goodies that I was obsessed with:

Alicia made these cake pops! Aren't they awesome?!?!
A closer look. The wings are almond slices, eyes are candy o's...

For Ava's present I made a pink and brown yarn wreath with pink felt flowers and a cute little owl. I'm obviously obsessed with wreaths right now but they're fabulous and have proved very therapeutic. I made her some tiny earrings and put them in one of my hand-stamped boxes tied with ribbon. I was all about the handmade this weekend.

I have to mention that I even put glitter tape on the bday card. GLITTER TAPE = AWESOME

Hope everyone has an awesome Monday!
