Have you ever started watching a tv show or reading a book and just couldn't wait to get home to finish it or start another episode? Like the Twilight series or watching True Blood religiously every Sunday night requiring complete silence from the fam with the tv on volume 60 for the hearing impaired (I've read the books a couple of times too). Well I'm once again stuck in that rut. I am a huge romance sucker. It doesn't matter how the romance plays out in the story or what the background is. Vampires, lonely farm hand, whatever. I pick up a book and have to read to the end no matter how long the story is just to find out if the couple makes it. Nora Roberts is my FAVE! I steal mom's Noras before she can file them away on the bookshelf. And I often get hooked on tv shows as you can tell by the complete psychotic undertones of my previous sentence about True Blood. Now my obsession is with Bones.

I can't get enough of it. We have Netflix and I come home and want to turn it on as soon as I walk in the door. I've been catching up on all the seasons that Netflix has available. They're one short of all the seasons....I know you're thinking That's absurd! Netflix needs to get with it. Me too!!! I'm thinking the same thing.  Yet again, I was sucked into the romantic vibes between Brennan and Booth. Now I have to watch all the episodes to watch their romance unfold even though I've seen most of these episodes. I'm also secretly thankful that The Hubs has been working so much = I get more time in front of the tv. I make jewelry while watching a show about dead bodies and romance. The perfect combo!

Has anyone else noticed that most of my favorite books and shows involve murder/ the undead in some manner? Should I be worried about that?

Etsy Treasury - Orange

One of my bib necklaces was featured in an Etsy Treasury - Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow. Christy's shop Wicks and Whiffs has lots of luxurious bath products like this:

Doesn't that look like something that you could literally bathe in?! Her Shea Butter Body Whip looks so light and frothy. Definitely going to have to try that out!!!

And on a side note: Christy is also a member of Alabama Accents, the BEST team on Etsy :) Got to support my team!

I'm a Winner!!

Nooo, that's not just something my Mom tells me. One of the blogs I follow regularly, A Glimpse Inside, had a giveaway that I entered and won. YAY!!! I get Allison's blog updates sent directly to my email so that I can check out all her newest know, so I can stalk appropriately. {I have been coveting her Valentine Topiary for the longest time and will be trying that soon!!}  A couple of weeks ago Allison featured April's shop Funky Vintage Lovely as one of her 1000 Follower Celebration giveaways. I was so surprised to open my email and see that I actually won something that I couldn't work for the rest of the day....just kidding *wink, wink*.  It's the little things in life that brighten my day and that email sure made my day a lot better. You get that feeling that you've actually accomplished something even though I hadn't done anything but WIN. Like finishing a race that you've been diligently training for except I've never actually done anything remotely like that but you get what I'm saying. And if you think I was excited about that email just imagine the shear foolery when last Friday I received my joyous prize.

Purdy huh?! Friday was one of "those" days but looking at my new ring just reminds me to Keep Calm and Carry On. And if you like that awesomeness, April has a very stalkable blog that you should check out as well.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Who Dat

I am very proud of the hubs!! He saw this idea online and because the price was a bit much he made it himself. That's my man!! He did this completely on his own without assistance whatsoever and I couldn't be more proud of his work.

He stained the wood and beat it up. Bought the license plates and cut them up and after a couple day of intense contemplation, he finally glued it down last night.

I help animals one small pill at a time...

I occassionally start out writing a really juicy post and then get distracted and forget about it. Today I decided to look through my drafts and find something to elaborate on but I found this. Trying to make Milo do anything is a disaster but this post is pretty funny. The whole situation scarred me...Milo hasn't really been groomed since. (The below was written probably a year ago. Disclaimer: I'm not a bad mommy, I just really like my arms without scratch marks)

The other day I noticed that Milo, the 20lb rug that looks like a cat, was looking mighty nappy (translation: he needed to be brushed). I've talked about Milo before but I don't know how well I've explained the fact that Milo turns into a demon with anyone but me and occassionally he does growl at me. It's not a cute thing. If he was a tiny 5lb cat or even 10lbs, it might be a cute thing but he's 20lbs so it's kinda scary. Jared's scared of him which Milo takes full advantage of every chance he gets. Jared feels the need to tattle on the animals and apparently has some kind of notebook where he instantly writes down Milo's every offense just to bring it up at the most inopportune time like when I'm asleep.

Monday, I had the day off and ran some errands. One of them was to pick up some sort of tranquilizer for my little Milo so I could brush him out otherwise I would end up chasing a growling cat throughout the house. The directions say to give him half a pill 30 minutes before I need to "groom" him. Groom is an elegant term for what actually happens when I chase him around. It usually involves me lunging toward him with the brush hoping it detangles one of his many knots as I pull it through his fur before he runs in the opposite direction. I gave him half the pill and waited... He looked the same, wasn't passing out or drooling. Waited some more... It's got to be time now??? The vet said I could give him the 2nd half but I'm really wary about giving him unknown drugs otherwise I would have just given him something of mine.

So after purchasing aforementioned drugs and holding Milo down to make him take it and waiting very impatiently, I ended up chasing him around for 30 minutes anyway.

Why, oh why

Why, oh why do I ask JD to take pictures?! I made myself a breautiful (if I do say so myself) flower necklace. I have several of the large flower necklaces in my Etsy shop but you can't really tell what size they are so I got the brilliant idea to just ask Jared to take a picture of me wearing my yellow flower necklace. He proceeds to take pictures of my double chin, my DUHHH face, etc. I did, however, manage to do some cropping and touching up on a couple of pictures after deleting the ones where I look like Quasimodo.

This is as good as it gets folks.

On a super happy note, I received some happy packages in the mail today. I ordered a buttload (a lot) of feathers from Pick Your Plum. Really, if you haven't signed up to receive daily emails from Pick Your Plum you should. They're awesome!!

I also got not one but two packages from SnapCrafty full of colorful fantabulousness. I order a lot of my supplies from SnapCrafty's Etsy shop. One of my recent weaknesses: bright flower cabochons.

I will officially be locked in my house for most of the weekend now. Expect lots of good stuff to appear in my SHOP next week.

Our Mini Vacay

Jared and I got married 4 months ago. We originally started dating 4 years ago. August 8th...but who's counting :) Every year on our dating anniversary we go to New Orleans so that's what we planned on doing for our honeymoon. Then I started to procrastinate. Which led to us not going to NOLA. The Saints' first preseason game was Friday and when I finally realized that I had forgot to book a hotel, it was too late to book anything. So then I started making a list of things that I wanted to do around Mobile: Downtown, Gulf Shores, Dauphin Island, etc. Jared even agreed to do the things on my list. If you know JD, you know that's not something that happens often...him agreeing to do stuff on one of my lists. He didn't put up a fight or anything. Easy Peasy. Then the vacation gods decided that I shouldn't be able to do CRAP and I got sick. It got so bad that I actually went to the doctor. My original list had to be cut way short. My sis-in-law and nieces even invited us to do fun stuff but instead I was laying on the couch in total agony.

On Sunday when I actually started to feel like a human again {I was going to say a normal human but who am I kidding....I'm not normal}, we went downtown to the Exploreum.  I made the mistake of asking Jared to take pictures.

Here I am trying to test my hanging strength. Under 1 minute = needs improvement. I hung on for about 10 seconds.

This is when I start to regret asking the hubs to take pictures. He took this shot and kinda mumbled "Great shot" and kept walking. Thanks a lot, sweetheart.

These two pictures (above and below) are prime examples of our competitiveness. Test your reaction time by placing your hand on a button and when the screen starts counting down you're supposed to move your hand as quickly as possible. We stood at this machine for about 10 minutes trying to beat each other's times.

The medicine I was taking gave me some horrid hot flashes so pretty much from this point on I was sweaty and irritable. Jenn's irritable...feed her!!! So we left and drove to Felix's and had some AWESOME crabcakes.

My first reaction was to take a picture with my phone and post on Facebook. This is the fifth picture AFTER I had eaten half a crabcake and realized my other pictures were crappy.

My sweet hubby also took me to one of my favorite antique stores as well. Antiques at the Loop. I have a really bad habit of touching everything. I like to feel textures. It usually just aggravates Jared but this day I think I really did it. I almost broke a pretty jar sitting high on a shelf. I just had to touch it and of course the top fell off and made a huge noise. It didn't break thankfully...I didn't stop touching either. Some live and learn. I'm not some :)

Monday was supposed to be our big adventure but, again, I was feeling like a zombie. We drove to the outlets and I bought some clothes, felt buyer's remorse, became very silent, regretted not eating breakfast. By the time we got to LuLu's to eat, I was a big sweaty, shaking mess. Low blood sugar, side effects from the antibiotics, wearing jeans in the 90-something degree heat. I love my husband! Trust me, I'm very aware of how awfully dramatic I can be. True story: I cried like a 3 year old when Jared made me take my medicine. Literally. Cried. Standing in the kitchen blubbering about having an allergic reaction to medicines.

JD - You're my hero <3

My latest...

Just recently I started making rosette hair clips. I've looked at all the hair clips and fascinators on Etsy and they are beautiful and fancy. It seems that most everyone has a model wearing the clips as well. I even asked for some Facebook Fan Page advice on how to place the clips in pictures so that I could have some cute visuals but I am impatient and just did the routine old book pics. Annnnd I obsessed over it thought about it and decided that although the model pictures would turn out very cute and give the potential buyer a reference, I just can't do it. When I'm looking for a hair clip or jewelry, I often come to a piece that is gorgeous BUT what determines whether I buy it or not really depends on who is modeling it. I always wonder, for instance, if the earring posts have been changed out or if the model's hair is clean since she could potentially be wearing my jewelry/clip. Yes, I'm one of those people. A freak! I can't help it. I won't eat off the plates at work either because I can't help but wonder who ate off the plate before me even though it was put through the dishwasher.

That whole story was supposed to lead to me showing pictures of my new hair clips. I do realize, however, that I am going off into left field about all my neurotic obsessions so without further adieu:

Nothing too fancy. What do you think?

Google Rocks!!

I found this (above) out earlier. How nifty is that?!?! I have an "author id" through Google and Etsy submits all my items to Google to be displayed. That is too freaking cool. I know nothing at all about computers, don't claim to be any sort of an expert on SEO or anything else for that matter BUT this just makes my day. I'm a little behind the times. And I know that everyone's items look just like this (well, I do now) but I think this is cool. Until about 10 minutes ago, I had no idea this is what my jewelry looks like in Google Shopping.

Should I be concerned that I've already sold those Red Feather Earrings and they're still in the search????

So I'm sick. Like have a fever, chills, snotty nose, ear aches, VERY unattractive sick. I also become overly whiny and cry a lot when I'm sick. If you can imagine all of that together. It's nothing short of pitiful. I write to you today from the comfort of my couch where I have been and probably will continue to sprawl until I can successfully breathe through my nose. I really hope to feel better tomorrow. Jared and I are supposed to be having a mini honeymoon/vacay. Go to the beach and do silly touristy type things. We're going to the Exploreum downtown and eating at Hopjacks one day as well. I'm excited!! One of my friends, who shall remain nameless, says that I remind her of an old lady because I want to do "touristy-type" things even though I've lived here all my life. I'm borrowing the term "touristy" from another friend who agrees with the first friend. I'm on medicine...this doesn't have to make sense!

In other words...

Sick. Brain is mush. Hope to feel better tomorrow. Lots to do. Will take fascinating pictures or touristy type things.

If you were stranded on an island...

Last Friday Mandy, JennT and I were walking down to the deli to get something for breakfast. Among all the deep, insightful topics that we covered makeup happened to come up. My brain works like I imagine a squirrel's would. I jump around subjects with only a second of thought. If I don't write it down, I usually forget. So as we were walking back up to our desks I remembered that I had only put on part of my eye makeup. This thought came only seconds after I had stared lovingly at cupcakes and cookies in the deli. I know they have nothing to do with each other...just trying to give you a little peek into my lack of a thought process. Which leads me to the question:

What my floor looks like after I dump out my makeup bags

If you were stranded on an island what one piece of makeup would you want to have with you?

I have to have concealer! I am addicted to lipgloss as well but I would seriously injure someone for my concealer. I would dig a little hole in the sand for my concealer to have a cool place to rest so it wouldn't melt in the island's heat. I would definitely do that BEFORE I did anything else. Food, water, shelter pffft. Who's worried about that?! Now I'm going to have to go out and buy multiple things of concealer in case I'm ever without my makeup bag. Kind of like how I have deoderant in every place I visit frequently: a couple bars at home, one at work, one in my car, purse, etc, etc.

Anyone need some slightly used deoderant??
