Progress

This is going to be another house post so if you don't want to hear about home improvements and decorating, you probably shouldn't talk to me for a while. My level of interestingness has plummeted significantly. I wake up, go to work, come home, work on the house. The end.

Hanging blinds on our front door excites me. Literally.  If you were thinking about stalking me through the glass panel in the door - Sorry, try harder.

Closet organization has begun. I still can't find my tshirts but my shoes are readily available so who cares about the rest.

Shelves are up in the craft room! I'm going to show how excited I am with excessive exclamation points!!!!

Now this. This is shameful. We have a before picture obviously. Then the middle picture was taken after we crammed in some of our stuff {yeah, I said some - that is only part of the crap we brought over}. And the third picture. That was taken Monday after 3 or 4 boxes and several bags had been unpacked. Is it just me or does it look worse now?

No matter how many boxes and bags are in my way, the happiness that consumes me every time I sit outside and watch my babies run around more than makes up for the mess.  I walk in and can't wait to play outside. Our grass needs to be cut and there are still a million things that need to be put away but that can wait until tomorrow. Rolling around in the grass always comes first at our house!

We're Homeowners...

Finally! We have a home that's ours, all ours. We closed on the house on Monday, April 29th and got the last of our stuff moved in on Sunday. I never realized how many random things we've accumulated until we filled our new garage with boxes and bags. I kid you not - I can't park my little car in the garage because of the mess. To get my mind off all the stress of moving, I've been pinning decor inspiration like mad. Once the bags and boxes are unpacked {and the goodwill bags have been toted away}, I will have tons of decorating and DIY posts. Until then...

Life's a Beach

Last weekend was just what I needed! Time with friends in Orange Beach. We're in the process of buying a house and it's stressing me out. A whole lot of waiting for someone that's not very patient. It was nice to get away for a couple of days and just hang out.

We stayed at The Wharf. This was the view from right outside our condo door.

We spent a lot of time on the balcony hanging out and watching the boats and dolphins swimming by.

Thursday night we went to the Ampitheater and saw Kenny Chesney. I'm not a country music fan but I had a lot of fun. I'll dance to any beat.

Katie and I layed out at The Wharf's Oasis on Friday while the boys golfed. The Oasis is the place to go! They had a lazy river, waterfalls, shade under an oak tree, sandy areas, non-sandy areas, drinks - need I say more. The bomb!

Tacky Jacks!

Katie was all kinds of serious about this game.

Picture Vomit

The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy but I've enjoyed every minute! I haven't posted in a while so I've got a ton of pictures for ya.

Some of our favorite folks to hang out with just moved. They're about an hour and a half away now which isn't too far but it means I won't get to see my best friend Paisley as much. That little girl is my heart! Isn't she the cutest redhead you've ever seen?!?

Yogurt with some crazy folks. {Sidenote: My wonderful Mom told the kids to "go outside and play" while we were at Cold Snap eating yogurt. Cold Snap is off a pretty busy street. How my siblings and I survived our childhood, I have no idea.}

Last Thursday we went to a Paint Party for Teal Life Foundation. I had a ton of fun with some really special ladies.

Yard Work....BOO!

And I had to add a picture of my handsome hubby just because :0)

Project 24: No Sew Fabric Pillow Cover

I'm slowly trying to add some color to our house. By "slowly" I mean one strategically placed item a month so the hubs doesn't notice. He loves solid neutral colors {patterns are a big no no} so it completely took me by surprise when he picked out the fabric for these pillows. I saw this no sew tutorial on how to cover a pillow with fabric and thought it was perfect. The tutorial isn't super detailed for those of us who need step-by-step instructions so I will try and explain what I did to blindly rig my pillow cover. It's a lot harder to describe than I thought.  This is fixing to be some real genius shiz - big technical terms will be used!

Materials:
1 yard of fabric
12x12 Pillow
Safety Pins

Put the pillow in the center of the fabric and fold the fabric so that the overlapping fabric edge lines up in the center. I folded the end of the sides twice to make a point. Also tried to capture those folds in the picture below because explaining folds isn't my forte.

After the side folds, your pillow/fabric should look like this:

Fold the two sides over each other:

Tie the sides into a knot:

Safety pin the knotted fabric under the center of the knot to get this nice clean look:

Next, I will tackle a pillow with the sewing machine. You have been warned.
